Cannot Load DirectShow filters error

I am getting an error upon starting SageRecorder... the error dialog reads "Cannot Load DirectShow Filters. Please ensure SageTV filters are registered."

I've got a pvr250 card installed with just the Media Center hardware drivers (this driver shows up in dev mgr as Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (Encoder)), I installed JRE 1.4.02 & the demo version of the SageRecorder. I've got the Sonic DVD decoder pack installed (the audio and video decoders show up correctly in the settings dialogs). When I try to preview I get the same error dialog... other dialogs appear to work just fine.

I tried reregistering the .ax filters in the frey/common directory, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I'm still getting the same error.

A log file called hs_err_pid1588.log was created in the SageRecorder directory that contained:

An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION occurred at PC=0x10007F6E

Any ideas how to fix this?

Currently Sage doesn't work with the Windows MCE drivers. Try Hauppauge's beta drivers and see if those work.

That'd be great if it would work. SageRecorder would be a good add-on for MCE... would allow MCE folks to record to DVD compliant mpeg2, and would get around that proprietary dvr-ms format MCE uses.

So currently MCE owners cannot burn shows to DVD because of the dvr-ms format? What other issues does this cause?

BigAl you need to find the in the windows\inf\ folder open each oem(x).inf intell you find the rigth INF and you need to edit it.

Look for
;AddInterface={19689BF6-C384-48fd-AD51-90E58C79F70B},%p2.Encoder%,VideoEncoder,

remove the ";" line
so look like this
AddInterface={19689BF6-C384-48fd-AD51-90E58C79F70B},%p2.Encoder%,VideoEncoder,

Del matching oem(x).PNF file
Remove the card from device manager reboot.

You can always burn the dvr-ms files to dvd but to create a std DVD video the only real option is Sonic's latest version of MyDVD... it will recognize the dvr-ms format. But I REALLY don't like MyDVD.

To playback the dvr-ms files on other non-mce machines you also have to have SP1 and a WMP update that adds support for dvr-ms. It's a pain.
