I did shutdown Sage before making the edits. I even restarted the computer afterward and still no effect. The only directions I could fine on the program was from the readme file that is downloaded with it. From that all I thought I had to do is select USA cable, add a channel number and then enter the corresponding frequency and and save it.
I did look in the registry and the tuning directory didn't exist before I ran the program and didn't list any channels automatically. When I entered the channel and saved it through freqshifter, it created the path and files in the registry. I was a little surprised that the registry didn't already exist and was thinking it may be my problem. Sage must have been already using some thing before, I would have thought I would be simply editting that rather then creating something new? Am I editting the wrong file? If someone has used this program with success, can you share with me the details. Thanks |

Try copying frequencies for both the "Cable" and the "Antenna" selections. I've tried 2 different programs (FreqCopy and FreqShifter)...one of them (don't remember which) indicated in the readme that sometimes you needed to use "antenna" even for cable.
No, the paths should NOT have existed already. These paths are used to direct the DirectShow API's to "fine-tune" the standard frequency values. The standard frequency values are hard-coded into a Directshow .dll somewhere. Also, try manually editting the values for one of the channels using the registry to something way out (make sure you edit the value as a decimal value)...you should then see snow on that channel through Sage. Once you do that, you'll know which registry key to edit... |

I have two 150pvr cards in my system.
How do I make SageTV or WinTV use one card or the other? I"d like to play around with the frequencies independently on each card. Is that possible? Thanks, Dan |

Thanks Yalbik, by saving the settings to both "Cable" and "antenna" I was able to make the frequency adjustments stick for Sage. After iterating about 15 times, a painful process of shutting down and restarting sage, I was able to get the channel to come in pretty good. Still not perfect, but much better then before.
Thanks for you help. mdnttoker, The changes you make with frreq shifter or wintv will be seen by both cards, not possible (with those tools anyway) to make it happen for only one of the two cards. |

mdnttoker,
As Kev mentioned, no you can't play around with the frequencies independently That being said, I also have 2 PVR150's in my system and was having fuzzy channel problems on ONE of them. The weird thing is, once I put in the frequency adjustments, both tuners still tuned fine. I SUSPECT the problem is that older PVR150's have either a bug in the driver, or the physical hardware that prevents them from fine-tuning correctly. My one PVR150 would consistently tune to 300MHz for channel 37, even when I put in the override of 301.2625Mhz. For some odd reason I had to put in an override of 302.525 at which point it would report back tuning to 301.2625 (and provide a clear picture) Very very strange. |

I'll give this freq shifter proggy a try. See if it helps me on the low end. |

working so far...
I downloaded freqshifter and the microsoft tables and started hunting for frequencies. I'm on Comcast in Nashville. It didn't take long to figure that Comcast had shifted all the frequencies up about 100 KHz (i.e. channel 2 is 55.350 MHz instead of 55.250 MHz). I'm still finding individual channels that need to be re-tuned...I'll have to hunt for channel 18 as it's not conforming to the 100KHz offset. But it's been about 3 weeks and so far, all is working.
I'm guessing that the tuner card when new, is close enough to frequency, but as it ages, it goes slightly off frequency and SageTV needs the registry table to over ride. That, and the fact that the cable company decides to change their frequencies is enough to de-tune some or all channels. |

Same Exact Problem
I know it's been said before, but SAME problem here.
Half my channels are snowy with no audio. Works perfect in WinTV, doesn't work in Sage TV. Seems like this problem is widespread enough that Sage should address it instead of it letting float by in the forums. |

Missing UHF Channels (14 and up)
I noticed that my video capture device quit tuning into anything above channel 13. All that I get is snow. I have tried two different USB capture devices and they all exibit the same problem. I noticed when I switched from 'use Antenna' to use 'Cable' the problem went away for awhile. Now it's back and doing the above didn't fix it. I downloaded the 'BeyondTV' trial and it doesn't seem to have this problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?
-Thanks |
