Very odd S3 behavior
I just recently got S3 suspend working (ish) on my client in the bedroom.
I have an MCE remote (including receiver) with this PC which I use in conjunction with girder to control SageTV. Due to the fact that the driver I use for the remote is not the original windows driver (I got it off the girder forum) I have to disable 'wake using USB' in the registry (by removing this value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb "USBBIOSx"=DWORD:00000000), otherwise when I try to sleep the computer it wakes instantly. So, I can now put my PC to sleep with the remote, but to wake it I have to either press the case on switch, click the mouse or hit a keyboard key (ie get out of bed!!) Bare with me!! I had just put the pc to S3 with the remote and I settled in for the night. Last night it was pretty warm so I turned on the desktop fan next to my bed. All of a sudden the PC woke up! I tried the action several times and the same result every time - switch the fan on and the PC wakes. Now at first I thought that this was really odd, but I soon saw that this was a handy way for me to wake the PC without getting out of bed! RESULT! I just wondered if anyone knows why this is happening? I plugged the fan into several sockets around the bedroom and the same thing happens. ODD! Any comments? |

Simple -- you've obviously got "Wake on FAN" enabled.

V. Funny!
Maybe I should have a pic of the fan in my signature as it is now an integral part of my setup |

Do you have power on on power restore and when the fan starts it creates a big enough drop in electricity that the computer thinks the power is restored so it starts up.
