Smile PX-TV402U Issue and Resolution!

Hopefully this will save someone else the headache and grief I went through....

I had a new install of the Plextor and SageTV but the "Ready to Record" light would go blank and I would just record static when a scheduled recording session would start. When I would reboot, everything would work fine, but then after a bit my PC would do the USB bonging noise and the Ready to Record LED on the Plextor would shut off.

I decided to remove the Plextor from my USB 2 Hub and plug in directly to my PC. Now something very strange happened...XP would recognize my Plextor, but said that it wasn't plugged into a USB2 hub. I ignored the message because I assumed all my ports were USB2. When I fired up SageTV and tried to watch TV, it said no input available and then Sage locked up tight....had to force a reboot by holding my powerbutton down.

Finally after MUCH messing around, I tried a different USB port on my Mobo. The Plextor was recognized with no error messages and now everything works like a champ. It ended up that originally the Plextor didn't like my USB Hub (should have read the instructions that adviced against hubs) and secondly I have a USB port on my mobo that is not USB2!
