Possible 1.4X bug-- all recordings deleted when I ran out of space
Ok, not sure if this was a random event, a corrected bug, or something lurking out there waiting to wipe out everyone's collection--
Basically, I filled the drive, and walked in to get a message along the lines of "Seeker ran out of drive space, recording must stop." I went into Sage Recordings to kill off old files, only to discover that everything except the recorded show I was watching and the show that it was in the process of recording had been deleted. Needless to say, I was not pysched about losing 70GB of shows. The shows are definitely off the drive-- nothing in the main folder, nothing in errant, windows shows 76GB free now. Using SageTV 1.4.7, Hauppage 350 (software decoding enabled), windows XP. Sage log attached. |

Looking at your log files, Sage is deleting far more than it should have to when its recovering diskspace. It stops when the disk reports back that enough is free. The disk isn't updating how much free space it has after each deletion occurs, so it keeps deleting until it finally does telll it there's space free.
Do you have the recycle bin turned on for your F drive? If so, turn it off. That would explain it. If not... What kind of drive is your F drive? (local hard disk, mapped drive, etc.)

Does SageTV use the Recycle Bin? I haven't changed any default settings on my drive, so I assume it has the recycle bin still enabled on the drive I use for SageTV. I've deleted shows manually and I'm pretty sure they don't show up in the Recycle Bin. I'm getting close to filling up the drive, so I would like to avoid the problem Jim S. had.

SageTV doesn't explicitly use the recycle bin, but I've definitely seen it cause problems in the past when its enabled. Apparently Windows uses it sometimes behind the scenes.

I almost always have my drive at full capacity, and haven't seen this problem. I have Sage setup to use it own logical partition. I have both Recycle Bin and System Restore turned off on this drive. I've followed all the betas since 1.2.8 so hopefully this isn't an issue that will affect everyone.
Best of luck. |

How do you disable the recycle bin for a partition or drive?

Ok, I just installed the new norton antivirus on there, and it put on it's smart delete crap, so that's probably what happened; the disk was "really" full, but when Sage deleted, norton took over and hosed me...
Ok, I can live with that, just glad it's not Sage... |

There may be an easier way to do it, but this is the way I do it in WinXP. Hope that helps. |

That was very easy......
This also applies to W2K as well. Thanks
