PCI Expansion/Riser Cards-2 Slots

Can anyone recommend a PCI expansion card that turns one PCI slot into 2? Are they all compatible with different MB's? Would you see any problems using one expansion slot for a PVR card and another for a NIC? Any conflicts/Bandwidth issues that I should be concerned with?
Thanks
JUC

I think you'd be much better off getting a USB tuner.

me too! Here's my problem--my MB only has 2 PCI slots. I have one filled with a Roselyn. The other currently has my NIC (onboard blew out). I don't have USB2.0 on board (getting the picture--older MB). I would prefer not to get the USB PVR card due to cost. I just really need one more PCI slot to make this work though. I am currently looking at just replacing the motherboard but since it has SDRAM its a little limmiting as to what is out there.

Have you thought about getting a card that has both networking and usb 2.0? Newegg.com has a couple PCI to 1394/USB/LAN Cards.

Nevermind, I see you didn't want to go the usb pvr route.

actually, that is not a bad idea if i do decide to go the USB PVR route. I didn't even know they made USB/LAN combos. The only reason i am shying away from the USB PVR route is the extra costs--but its not that much more I guess.
Thanks

The price of that USB tuner is not much more expensive than the PCI versions.

Good Point.

The USB version uses the same Tuner that is in the DTA 151 and DTA 150. I know that the DTA 150 isn't specifically listed by Sage, but I use one and it works. Sage just looks for the Tuner.

I can't give you a definitive answer regarding the USB though...

regardless, its a good price for a USB version. Thanks. I am checking out ebay to see if I can get a used PVR USB2.0 at a decent price.

The product linked by commodore is an HD tuner. Dont know if you wanted HD. It is most definitely supported by sage. It is the last listed HD tuner on the sys. req. page.

HTH.

that explains it--i am really only looking at SD cards--but do plan on getting HD soon--just can't get it OTA where I live. I don't need a tuner as I have DTV--will this work as a pass through for SD content? The price is cheaper than the Hauppauge USB tuners so it seems like a great option.
