r5000-HD network encoder??

Hey all.

I'm doing some initial research into building a HD HTPC, and am very interested in the r5000-HD mod. According to their site, it looks like they wont be putting out a directshow filter anytime soon. Rats.

However, they do provide a command line interface for recording, channel changes, etc. Has anyone bothered looking into creating a network encoder for Sage that calls out to their cl interface?? It would be a hack, but with some fine tuning could be made reasonably stable.

Anyone??

Now, if I could only get AC3 audio working with 1394 capture....

Best bet is to wait for timmmoore (from AVSForum) to finish his mod for MCE and then try to modify that for SageTV. That's what I'm holding out for. Apprently it does work, but there are still kinks being ironed out. Basically his mod just has mce call the R5000 app to do the recording when MCE wants it to. I've been keeping a close eye on both the R5000 and 169Time mods waiting to see which is the first to offer MPEG4 modded boxes.

Waiting on that mod also. Hope I don't have to drop sagetv for mce to use it.
