Fine Tuning TV Channels

The following link describes a fairly easy way to tune the channels for cable and antenna (most any country). You can literally type in any frequency (within the TV freq range) for any channel.
It definitely works for Sage TV once you save the settings using "freqshifter" I found you need to stop and start SageTV and / or the Service for the new frequency to take effect. You don't have to reboot.

The important parts are here:
Frequency Tables:

FreqShifter Program:

PS: I don't know for sure if it matters, but you may want to turn off the always_autotune property as well. My thinking is that, it may defeat small freq changes by it re-tuning back to what it likes. (maybe not, the Sage Gurus may know for sure)

PS-PS:Also befrore messing with these settings I suggest you set a restore point / backup your registry.

I tried doing what you said and nothing is happening. First, I do see the change in the registry when I go to regedit but if I try as an example putting channel 4 on the channel 2 frequency, channel 4 is still tuning to channel 4 in both programs the Win TV and Sage. I think I'm doing something wrong.

I'm assuming I use the second chart if I have cable. I should use the NTSC (United States): F_USA_CABLE RCDATA and I used the channel 2 frequency, 55250000L. Also, what is the L after the frequency?

It's not working...any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

I also tried setting the always_autotune to false. Still no luck.

Hi.
The L in the freq listings just indicates the the number is a long integer.

I used the attached image's settings and saved, and then changed the "tuning space" to generic and saved again. The results were that channel 2 in Sage TV was then actually tuning in channel 4, after stopping and restarting the Sage TV Service and /or Sage TV. This is on a computer running XP Pro and the latest Hauppauge 150/500MCE drivers.

I assume you rebooted the computer just in case.

Maybe this only works on the MCE drivers? I think I've read about other tuning methods for older boards using WINTV somehow and the putting the results of what WinTV is set for in to some other location... you may want to search the http://www.shspvr.com/smf/ website as well, if necessary.

Sorry if it doesn't work in your case.

PS: This link may be of use to you as well... Set Wintv2k to use Microsoft tuning
