Skipping Issues!
Well ive gotten my pvr-500 to show good video and good audio but only after about 2 minutes of skipping. It seems like it isn't buffering or something. What could be the problem? I have the harddrive formatted to 64k. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guy!

Are you talking about live playback, or a previously recorded show? If live, try pausing for a few seconds & then resuming; maybe it is trying to play too close to the currently recording section.

Is there a permanent fix for this? I've tried to pause but it doesn't help too much. And it does it on both recorded and live tv

We're probably going to need to know more about the specs of the system, proc, memory, possibly mobo, HD's, windows version, possibly updates, etc. All the info we have right now is you have a PVR 500 & 64k clusters.

I don't know what to suggest, but it might be useful to know whether the stutter is part of the file, or just part of SageTV's playback process. What happens if you try playing the recording in some other player -- does the first part of it still stutter?

OK so I'm looking for some suggestions. My video stutters at random times. This is with both recorded shows and live (although aren't they essentially the same?) I have Tried many combinations of bitrates, renderers, and decoders to no avail.

Are you sure it has anything to do with sage?
What I mean is, does it studder if you try to play the files thru Mediaplayer or some other video player? I had a problem one night with my setup. I had just put my hdtv client together and it was just studdering right and left. Come to find out, either my router (with a 4 port switch) or my 5 port switch in the basement was causing a bottleneck. After I reset (by unplugging both) it worked without a hitch. I would highly recommend setting your video folder for sage as a shared folder and see if when your client tries to play off the shared folder if it skips. If it does skip and you have taken Sage out of the loop (and the file plays fine on the server of course), then you know it is your network and not sage.

Also, what about video? Are you using Integrated Video? What Codecs? For SDTV, I would think integrated video and codecs shouldn't matter too much with a 2.8 gig P4, but anything is possible (depending on the integrated video that is). Like I said in my previous post, try playing a video without sage and see if it studders. Then you will isolate the problem (hardware vs. software).

Stuttering Video
Well I haven't had the time to sit down and watch one of the files in another player, but I don't think thats the answer.. I can rewind the video and it doesn't stutter in the same place. Also, I'm not using any network clients in my setup. The sage box drives the TV directly.

What is the video card setup for your client?
What settings and codec are you using for video and audio? (IE.. Radeon 9800, Overlay, 3D Accelleration turned on, FSE turned off)
