Serial Help

Hey Guys,

I just bought the serial to rj11 adapter I found a link to on another post regarding DTV and I really need to know what colors do in what holes when wiring the serial adapter. I have a D10-100 if that matters.

Thanks,
Tony

It means pin 5 of the 9 pin connector (computer serial port) is connected to pin 1 of the 4 pin connector (RJ11 port) with a black wire.
Similarly, pin 2 is connected to pin 2 with a red wire and pin 3 is connected to pin 4 with a yellow wire.

Here's my cheapo-quick no-wiring fuss solution to that problem (cause I had all the parts):

1 x Cisco DB9 console cable (terminal) with RJ45 jack
1 x 4 conductor handset cable

BAM! Done Otherwise, what those guys said
