Is this possible with SageTV today?

I would like to create new menus within Sage to send commands to control other devices in the HT. These may be in the form of IR commands (hopefully blasted out the USBUIRT), or sendmessage commands to other programs, Girder, etc.

What I want to do is use this capability to expand SageTV to be a complete HTPC front end type application. Anyone doing this yet?

I've been wanting something like this for the longest time. Just to be able to have a Sleep timer. It would be great if you could get sage to send out a IR code to shut off you TV after a set amount of time.
What did you have in mind?

This is definitely possible, and is fairly easy to implement w/ the Studio as well.

Here's the API command you'd need:

There's examples of how to use it in the IR Transmit test screens for SageTV.

Yes I would like to add a main screen that allows control over my HT equipment. Turning projector on/off, receiver, controlling position of my screen masking. Looks like it all is possible.

Not being a programmer will slow me down, but hopefully I can work something out.
