Talking Has anyone created an XM Radio Online plugin?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has tried creating an XMRO plugin for their own use, or has found a way to incorporate one of the stand-alone programs like Xamp into the Sage interface?

Just curious...

Have you looked at TimeTrax? With the right hardware, it can receive XM radio programming, and create a bunch of tagged mp3 files with all the music that is transmitted. If you store these tracks in a directory that SageTV scans periodically, it should make all these songs available in Sage.

This doesn't help with live XM listening if that is what you are looking for, but if you have DirecTV, XM is available on the EPG that way, and Sirius on Dish. And if you have digital cable then you get DMX, so lots of choices for Live using your video provider.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I am aware of the TimeTrax software for the XMPCR, but I'm just looking for a front-end to the XM Radio Online service... not recording music (although that could be a plus)..

I may be able to whip something together for myself, but it won't be sharable quality if I do.. hahaha I wouls probably just put a couple of links that open Media Player in the background to a specific station(s) I listen to.. not sure how to grab the current artist/song info... but I've seen how to open XMRO in a URL..

I've been a TimeTrax user since it was first released, and while I like the program overall, it doesn't do what I want it to, especially in relation to Sage. One of the many, many projects I would like to do, but probably will never have time for, is to write a Sage interface to my XM radio. I think it would be a great fit.

Meanwhile, I will not be insulted if someone else beats me to it.
