Need help with setup (Please!)
Hello ladies and gents. I've had SageTV for about a month now and I love it! I do have a problem accessing my digital cable channels though. Here's my details:
SageTV V4 Hauppauge PVR-500 Cox San Diego Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3100 I have a splitter that splits the coax to the STB and to the PVR-500. I can receive the regular cable channels just fine, but I don't know how to set it up where I can get the digital cable channels + pay channels via the STB. Would I need to purchase the Hauppauge A/V Cable set or is there some other way to chain everything together? I would appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks in advance. Rison |

You will need two things:
1. An IR Blaster for changing the Channles the STB. 2. Svideo and Audio cables to connect to the PVR-500 Inputs ( No need for the AV Cable set ). Basically what you need to do is plug the STB into the PVR-500, then go into video sources and for one of the two sources select SVideo as the input and then you need to select the IR blaster you purchased and plugged in. I personally would go for the USB Uirt since you can eventually add 2 more discrete IR blasters. Hope this helps. John

To add to the previous post -- the usbuirt (go to usbuirt.com) is used to change the channels of the STB. There is a section in the 4.0 manual that covers configuration. This is the same thing you would do with a tivo or any other PVR... using their supplied IR blasters. So it would be cable in to the STB -- video and audio out (svideo will provide the best picture) to the PVR 500. Then configure your computer and sage to use the usbuirt to control the STB.

Thank you guys for all your help! I'm going to get everything I need and hook it all up. I'll report back the good (or bad) news. Thanks again!
