PVR500s and amcap

Hi, I'm trying to find out if its sage or hauppauge that is causing my problems by using "amcap" the thing is I can see a video stream when I preview (no sound) it lest me capture it apparently, it makes an avi file anyway.

But nothing will play the resulting file WM10 tries to get a codec for it but comes back with an error.

anyone know whats missing, or going on?
