Audio and video capture cards
I am really confused. It seems to me that video capture cards would allow for spdif inputs as opposed to the left and right channel only
Can someone tell me if such a capture card exists? |

I am not aware of any capture cards that do SPDIF input. I would assume you are thinking about hooking up a digital cable/satelite box to your sage rig? Most people juse use analog audio inputs, or if you have the capabilities to do firewire, they use firewire. Maybe someone else knows of a capture card with SPDIF?

Firewire?
You are correct, I want to connect my sattelite box via the optical connection.
I would use cable, however the lower channels in my area have inferior reception. I am wondering if it is worth giving up the optical sound connection for left and right inputs. |

Considering you're only other option is no sound , I'd say it's worth it. Besides how much stuff is actually broadcast in more than stereo anyway?
