Setup/tuner issues

I'm pretty much new to the PVR world so naturally I'm having some issues. I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 350 card and I've got it setup right (at least as far as viewing the channels in the preview box); coax -> comcast box -> PVR -> PVR S-Video -> TV. Now, I'm not sure how to configure the tuning. I imagine under the Tuning Option I would want to choose "Use external Cable or Satellite receiver to tune channel", but when I choose that option then channel 4, I get three options: DirectTV Serial Control, Actisys IR200L or USB-UIRT Transceiver. I'm not sure which one to choose. I tried using the "Use Tuner on Capture Card..." but I believe that only handles 125 channels. Comcast Digital has about 800 you can subscribe to. When trying the Use Tuner option I can only see a clear picture on channel 4; all the rest are ants. I'm almost there I'm just stuck at this point. I don't need to hook up a USB cable from the Comcast tuner to the PVR do I?

Halon,

take a look at this thread:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...motorola+cable

I have a motorola cable box and use this (as i'm sure many others do) to have Sage change the channels on the STB.

When hooking the encoder card to an external converter box, SageTV needs some way to change the channel on that box, since it outputs to a specific channel -- just like you would set your TV to that one channel (4, in your case), then change the channel on the box, when connecting the box to your TV.

If the box has serial control capability, then you cold look into that. Otherwise, you would most likely be looking at getting an IR blaster (such as the USB-UIRT) that SageTV could use to emit channel change info to the box.

Similar confusion

I've been searching for a similar solution and posted in the STB Firewire thread about changing channels through the firewire port. I downloaded the exeturner plugin but I really don't want to use girder if necessary. Would there be a way to change the channel command within Sage to use an external command to change channels ? (I know sounds confusing)
