Conexant Falcon-II - PVR150 Plus HELP!!!

Okay....someone help me out here! I just bought a couple Avermedia PVR 150 Plus's and can't get any video input. I have done a lot of research and seeing as how they are soo new, there doesn't seem to be a lot of help out there. What they are are pretty much Conexant Falcon-II chipsets with the CX23416 encoder card, and the CX2584x (specifically cx25841 on these cards). I know several hauppauge cards use this very chipset and work flawlessly, is there something I am not doing? I can not get a signal at all. My old M150's work just fine in the box but they are bsed on the conexant blackbird design. Someone please help!!!

EDIT: I can get this card to work in mediaportal, so I am assuming I don't have something setup in Sage right. HELPPP!!!! I NEED IDEAS!!!!

I know, that is the frustrating part. Their website says it is supported, and it comes up in sage, but all I get is "No signal" right across the screen.

I have also submitted to Sage, but I am waiting. I am getting this error: -5,0x80040207 when I am trying to watch anything. It talks about a capture error in playback and there is a problem setting up software video compression....Don't know if that helps anyone!

I thought this was a hardware encoder card??? Is it possible it is being recognized/configured as a software encoder card and that is the reason for the problem (and the error you mentioned)?
Just an idea.

Just checked the web and found:http://www.epinions.com/content_189680750212

Based on the review, the card requires MCE for dual tuner operation and the system specs exceed your listed system.

System Requirements:
For Windows Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 Operating System
CPU: Intel® Pentium® IV 2.4 GHz, 128 RAM or higher
Interface: One Free PCI slot
Sound Card
64 MB PCI or AGP VGA Card with DirectX 9.0 or Higher
60 GB HDD

I don't know why they would state they support Sage or BTV if requiring you run them on MCE??
Hope this helps.

Since it is supposed to be a hardware encoder & SageTV is showing an error about software compression, I'm guessing that perhaps it simply isn't being recognized correctly by SageTV -- make sure you let tech support know about that error.

Until you hear back from them, you could exit SageTV or its service, copy your current sage.properties file somewhere else, delete the original & its autobackup, then restart SageTV to completely reconfigure & see what happens.

Obviously the card is not listed as one of their supported cards, so I took a chance when I bought it. I have since moved the cards to my "test computer" (which is really my daily desktop) so that they don't interfere with my sage box. I still have my old M150's (which use the blackbird reference design) and they are running just fine. I am sure Sage at some point will support these cards, but I just need to know how soon as I will need to send them back fairly quickly to still get my money back! Hopefully it will just take a properties or registry hack or something to get them to work. *crosses fingers*.

Thank you for all your help so far everyone! Hopefully I hear back from sage soon.

So after I did my last post, I decided to pull up Sage Properties, and it has the card listed as:

mmc/encoders/-1706575813/video_capture_device_name=ATI WDM RageTheater video capture

That has got to be the problem right there. It is listed as AverTV Video Capture in Sage, but if I am not mistaken, that is showing it listed as it would if it were trying to use an All-in-Wonder card which as we all know is a software encoder. I know this uses roughly the same chipset as the Hauppauge 150MCE (I belive the 150MCE uses the 25843 and these cards use the 25841) but I wonder if I could setup my properties to use the same say a 150MCE. Any thoughts? I would need to know how to change the properties......

All of the Beta versions from 4.1.5 and newer have added supported for the PVR 150 plus. Unfortunately Sage has not released a non beta version yet that supports this card. Head over to the beta forum and download 4.1.9 and you should have no problem using it!
