NAV Packets

I recently tried for the first time to create a DVD of some shows recorded with my SageTV/Hauppauge PVR-250 combo. I was using the DVDAuthorGUI authoring application which I have successfully used to author DVDs from MPEGs that came from my Sony DCR-DVD403 DVD camcorder. When I try to import MPEGs recorded from SageTV I get an error message telling me the files do not contain NAV packets. I used the DVD recording settings in SageTV with the understanding that these would produce files compliant with the DVD standards and thus would avoid any transcoding processes. From some digging around that I have done, it appears I can get the VideoRedo application, open the SageTV MPEGs, save them as VOB files and the NAV packets will be added. I would like to avoid the extra step if possible. Has anyone else experienced this and/or can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong or missing something?
