Virtual memory too low

Every couple of weeks or so I'm getting virtual memory too low (or similar message) and computer becomes unusable - my MediaMVP looses connection and everything takes very long time to run. I have 512Mb of RAM, the pagefile initial size is the same and it grows to 1Gb. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Could either just increase the Virtual Memory or just select the option to let windows manage it for you.

I'm pretty sure that option is selected but I'll double check. Thanks.

Use the task manager to determine which process is using up all of the memory.

I get that sometimes when MIXER.EXE goes berzerk and grabs all of the system memory.

Not sure why it does that. Probably a sound driver issue. But it doesn't happen REAL often, so no big deal.

Another thing to check: Norton AntiVirus (others too?) can eat up memory if you haven't excluded your SageTV recording dirs from its autoscans.
