mvp spdif mod

is anyone here using the media mvp hardware mod that allows access to digital audio from the mvp? i'm still hunting a way to play dvd material on my mvp without recoding everything to an analog format...

I don't think rhis is going to work how you want it. From the thread:
I do not believe that the Hauppauge dongle.bin has the necessary code to allow AC3 through to SPDIF ( after all - why would they ? ).
If you look at the AC3 thread - you'll see I had to write some code to enable AC3 on toslink.
BTW - it's not just a simple matter of 'enabling' AC3 for the HCW dongle.bin - as the code would also have to recognise the AC3 data and send it to the appropriate /dev/adec_ac3 as well.

You'll need to do more then just add a toslink connector.

i figured that there would be more than just adding the connector which was the reason i inquired. looked like a linux system with a modified dongle file was being used on the site that i referenced. i just didn't know if anyone had tried this mod.

i also found a link to a circuit that will decode spdif to analog output (since i really just need the rca outputs).
