TV Recordings look like 24fps movies.

Whenever my friends watch anything I've recorded with my Hauppauge PVR250.. they say, "it doesn't really look like TV. It looks more like a movie." Even if it's something like a sporting event which, when viewed on a regular NTSC television, clearly looks like video.

I'm assuming that this is there way of unknowingly saying... "looks like 24fps.. or less.. as opposed to the 29.97 I normally see". And I agree with them. While it looks -good-.. and while the look isn't completely undesirable in a lot of situations.. it's definitely not as smooth as when watching regular TV.

Anyone have any ideas?

Oh.. I'm recording with the Standard DVD settings in SageTV.

Thanks.

David

A PVR 350 or Xcard that doesn't deinterlace. FWIW, most "TV" is actually "Film" (24fps).

Yes... but not the sporting events I watch (hockey).

So.. basically I need a PVR350.

Or you could try Theater Mode or Video Overlay, but you'll loose the OSD on the TV that way.

FWIW, I'd go Xcard over 350.
