Sage Client wakes up monitor

I have my promary Client box driving a 27" CRT display. In Windows power management settings, I have the system set to power down the monitor after 1 minute of inactivity. So when I'm finished watching something, I sleep Sage -- the screen saver shows the hopping Sage logo for a minute, then the display powers down. WAD. Except -- at random intervals after that, the display powers up again, showing the hopping Sage screensaver logo for a minute, then powering down again.

Can anyone suggest routes toward resolution of this? I've already eliminated possible rogue inputs from keyboard or mouse as a cause, by unplugging said items. The only input devices attached to the PC are a Firefly remote and a USB-UIRT, and neither is operating when the monitor mysteriously wakes up. Any suggestions at all?

I have Sage Client installed on my server running SageMVP and a MediaREADY 5000 client. The MediaREADY client doesn't wake the screen, but the Sage Client wakes up the monitor whenever I fire up the MVP.

So I guess, a client will wake the monitor on the machine it's running on. Not sure if there's a way to control that or not.

It's usually not a big deal for me since the machines in the office. I can tell by the glow from the office when I'm watching the MVP if I forgot to switch off the monitor on the server though.

Thanks for the reply, Wayne. In my case, the Client isn't driving anything remote like an MVP, it's just being used as a Client locally to watch TV -- or, actually, it's *not* being used. Just wakes up spontaneously to the screensaver display, then powers down after a minute.

Have you tried shutting the Sage screen saver off in both the server and client and just using the PC's screensaver? That's how I have mine set up and the only time mine comes out of screensaver is when I'm actually using the client from the MVP in the other room. Or doing something ON the PC itself naturally.

I started experiencing this problem once I started testing some of the 3.0x betas, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was, but with a little playing it was easily solved: you have to either turn off your screen saver or turn off FSE mode. In my case, I really like the screensaver, so I turned off FSE mode. This issue is that FSE mode *supposedly* won't share the screen with any other app, but the screen save tries to take over. The two seem to battle, with one or the other taking control at any given moment. I would often see weird results where my screen save would occupy half of the screen, and the Sage interface would be painting the other half. The monitor would flip into and out of power saving mode every 4 ~ 5 minutes, too.

I think you can leave Power Saving on, but you'll have to turn the screen saver off. Or, like I did, just ditch FSE. It didn't seem to buy me anything anyway.
