Channel limitations on capture cards

I am planning to run my cable box into my capture card. I have digital cable with considerably more channels than 125. Also, I have several premium channels and on demand channels. a few questions:

1) Are you able to get more than 125 channels using most video capture cards (thinking of those from hauppauge and ati)?

2) has anyone had any problems getting on demand channels or premium channels?

thanks for all your help. clearly starting up is the hardest part!

The onboard 125 channel tuner is for analog cable only. Analog cable is getting to be a rare beast these days as the cableco's are rapidly converting to digital only.

In order to get any channels above 125 as well as channels that are digital you must use a set-top box as your tuner and connect it via s-video or composite to your capture card. Some sort of IR transmitter is then needed to control the STB.

I don't have any on-demand channels at all but have no problem with premium channels but I use the aforementioned STB method and a USB-UIRT for changing the channels.
