Ideas for Imports

Now that Studio's out, I've loads of ideas for things I'd like to see put in an appearance... soon I'll roll my sleeves up and have a look at the possibilities. Just thought I'd air some of my ideas:
  • VOIP, instant messaging and video conferencing integration
  • Some form of browser
  • An email client
  • A Calendar client
  • Integration with the various IP Television apps coming out

In an ideal world the first would be some kind of generic wrapper around all of the available VOIP, instant messaging and video conferencing pieces of software, so that it would provide a seamless interface for all of the systems you have installed. So all your contacts in Yahoo, AOL, Windows Messenger, Skype etc would just show up in a single contacts list, and you could choose whether you wanted to type, talk or see them depending on the capabilities of the software they and you have installed.

The browser is a little complicated, as I can't think of an easy way to make it drivable without a mouse; but possibly using the left and right arrows as tab and shift-tab, and allowing you to enter a basic home page whish is a list of your favourites, would work.

The email client should be able to use POP, IMAP and preferably talk to an exchange server too. As should the calendar client, which should also use WebDAV and iCal. I'm thinking of a situation where you could have one of those week planners for the whole family up on the main telly.

Vonage

There has been some work done for Vonage and TiVo to give you some ideas...

http://www.martiansoftware.com/lab/#tivonage

Vonage also has a "click2call" api that might be interesting.

Full disclosure: I have two Vonage accounts, so I would love to see this type of integration.

Good ideas ... Well ... Besides what is mentioned above ...

Movie Theater Listings
Internet Radio
Music Jukebox Replacement
Skin / Theme Switcher

To name a few ...

OH ... Just thought of another ... and really not sure if this is already avaiable ...

Single click Burn DVD button ... So, this is the process that would be awesome ... Sage records a TV Show without commercials, I insert a blank DVD, Click a button and the show is burned to DVD commercial free ... Possible?

Photo manager to integrate with 3rd party DB. Filter on "Favorite" or assign as favorite, etc.

That made me think of another one ...

The ability to add WMV silde shows to the Photo Manager that were created with software like Microsoft Photo Story. Other softwares do this as well. It's great to "easily" create slide shows that have photo transitions with zooming effects and then add your own MP3's to the slide show or even narration.

Anyway, they end up saved as WMV files. I would be good if they were stored in the Sage Photo Manager and recoegnized for another viewing option.
