Are you good with the SageTV API?

Hello all, I'm looking to start a team of programmers interested in building a python script for XBMC that would use the SageTV API over a network to give you a set top extender.

This script would run in Xbox Media Center and control a SageTV server.

Three things we need to make this work, SageTV API over a network, Python scripting, and a smooth user interface.

Use a wireless adaptor with an xBox, and have it play recordings from the Sage server.... I would kill for that. I don't know if 802.11g would have any lag with video, I don't think so.

It definitely could. 802.11N might be better, but generally video + wireless is less than ideal a solution.

Some people have it working fine wiht 802.11g, some people don't. It just depends on how good your connection is (which most of the time it isn't that great).

While not experienced with the mentioned languages, I would be very willing to be a guinea pig and beta test the stuff. I'd love to get XBMC working with Sage!

Of course they are, many of the developers of MediaPortal are the developers of XBMC, Frodo being one of the major XBMC devs left XBMC for media portal.

Mediaportal is not nearly a good as SageTV.

My understanding was that MediaPortal grew out of/was based on XBMC. IIRC originally it was "XBMC for Windows."

I was referring to the python script... not the head end 'server' issue. They are using xbmc as the client in this case...

That's correct, but the projects are very divided.
