256MB 6600 or a 128MB 6800GT?
Hey guys,
Which one of these video cards would be a better match for SageTV? A.. GeForce 6600 256MB.... or.. GeForce 6800GT 128MB ?? And why doesn't there seem to be an AGP 6800 with 256MB of RAM? lol.... I'm just curious.. I may replace my old vid card (440 MX) if I can't figure out why upgrading to 4.0 is causing video pauses.. audio seems to play fine now.

Are you going to be doing any gaming? If not, the vanilla 6600 is more than powerful enough to run hdtv content. Don't waste your money on the 6800gt. If you game, than go with the 6800gt.

Awhile ago I bought a 6800GT (AGP) with 256mb of ram from Newegg. Here is the model description:
XFX PVT40AUD Geforce 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail However, browsing their site they do not seem to sell it anymore. You might be able to find it somewhere else if you look. I am very happy with it and would definitely recommend it. |
