Problems with new Canadian EPG

Well, I upgraded to v4 and everything seems to be working pretty well, except the new integrated listings.

1) Sage lists only 2 options for my Postal (ZIP) Code - Shaw basic and extended cable. Digital Cable listings are not provided?

2) Listings that are provided are not 100% accurate. Some channels are missing and some are not 'correct' ie: channel 27 is not WDIV anymore. Shaw did a shuffle on Nov 2, and Sage isn't reflecting it. Zap2It's website does list the new correct info. Is this a Sage problem or a Zap2IT feed problem?

Any luck with this?

I'm still using the older version of Sage with the digicasa plugin to get Canadian EPG data from Zap2It. Works great love it (Thanks to Lester for such a great plug in). Its actually more reliable than my TV guide which never seems to get it right.

Does the new Canadian EPG work okay? Or are there problems with it? I'm in the milton,Ontario area so I guess Cogeco is what I'm looking for. Eventually though I'm looking to get the Digital stuff.

I do vagually remember you have to make sure your profile on Zap2It (for the old plugin) has to have the content checked or something. I don't know where SageTV V4 gets its Canadian content from - I'm curious.

I want to upgrade, but I'm a bit nervous the EPG.

So V4 Canadian EPG is working okay?

Sounds like things are okay. Are there digital line ups from bell etc in addition to the normal cable lineups?

Also how's the stability of V4? I had seen some comments earlier, but I'm not sure if that was a widespread problem or just a few people.

Sage v4 gets its listings from the same company that the DigiCasa plugin does. However it is a slightly different feed. Sage uses the "commercial" feed whereas DigiCasa uses the "free" feed. Theoretically, both are the same. However in practice there seem to be differences (may depend on exactly what data Sage decided to licence in the commercial feed).

The DigiCasa plugin will continue to work with Sage v4 if you choose to use it. I would recommend trying the builtin Canadian listings in v4 first. If, for whatever reason, you are not satisfied then you can always switch back to using the DigiCasa plugin and still keep v4.

Regards
Lester

Wonderful. Thanks Lester

I'll give that a try. Your plug in as worked wonderfully for me. The only times I've had problems have been when java updated itself and created a new folder and I had to copy the java parts for the plug in over.

Otherwise its been rock stable on my system and has allowed me to enjoy the Canadian EPG (which is the main befit to using SageTV over a VCR - well FF/P/RR are good too).

Just wanted to give credit and thanks where it is due.

Jason.
