ATi Rage Theater w/ Sage

I know this question has been beaten to death in some places, but last night I managed to get a friend's Radeon 9600 Pro AIW working in Sage, which I previously thought was impossible. My own Radeon 8500DV AIW wouldn't work for the longest time in the 3.x betas, and so I decided to try again with v4. Lo and behold, it managed to tune a channel during tuner setup!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to coax it to work after that. I get an exception (-4,0x80004005): There was an [sic] problem using the capture device. Please be sure you have the latest drivers installed for your capture device, and that they are installed correctly.

I can get a picture when I do a color calibration in setup, but nowhere else. I feel I'm so close to getting this software encoder to work in Sage, but I'm stumped for now... Any ideas, anyone?
