External Players

I have installed and am using this mod for an external DVD player (using Theater Tek) and it works seamlessly....THANK YOU!!

I can live with using the internal Sage player for Imported Videos (unless there is another player out there that I am really missing out on...but not using..heh)

BUT, what I am trying to do is figure out how I can load J River Media Center through this mod....

The main reason I am trying to do this is that I would like better visualizations while playing music files...rather than the dripping paint look...
and also more flexability in catagorization of files

Since playing with the J River software, I figure I could load it and use it for both videos and audio (mp3) files....but I have to somehow load it.

Actually, you could almost load it in place of Sage's internal Media Center and have it cover all...

I thought I could just change the videoplayer.cmd file to load J River but for some reason it doesn't...

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks

Is it possible to have the file name be filename.nfo or filename.txt instead of filename.my? I use the Roku photobridge and Mplay the video app looks for program info in those file extensions. Possible? I will give this a try tonight. Great option for those using external players. I think it is just what I need as I just don't want to use a pc for hd playback as the photobridge plays them perfectly.

Thanks

One last thing. Can the contents of the *.my files be changed? For example I would like to take out the ".My File - Generated by GermSage v1.4" as the roku reads all of the file and viewing space is limited.

Thanks again.

.my file creation problem

I got a little problem when creating .my files for my imported videos when i choose one and select view detailed info there is no detailed info. I made a test and rename one of .my file created by Germsage STV for the recordings to the name of the movie file and it work. I want to know how to correctly create .my file because currently when using notepad it don't work.

Thanks !

create a file with the same name as the import video but with the .my extension.
Open with notepad and put the following:

title=Name of Video
overview=Put the show description here.
released=Put the original Air Date or release date here.

Any ideas as to what changed? Is this possible to fix or is it just my setup?

Well i had some time to spend so i give a little investigation on the .my file problem so here is what i found: in the video detail info it seem that when evaluating some field in the .my file return the size equal to 0 even if there is something after the field (ie: Released=2006) almost every field beginning with TV (like TVOverview) will return a size greater than 0 when being evaluated but all the other like Released, Overview, Actors .... won't do nothing. I hope this can help Greg on that problem. For now a workaround will be to use the field created with a .my file from a recordings to make a working .my file for other video.

HO i forgot to mention that i have to use the GermSage_v1.6.stv to make the video detail info to work the GermSage_v1.7.xml wont do nothing at all with .my files.

Sorry, this may be a DUH! GermSage does not work on MVPs, since MVPs cannot play dvds, right?

I was hoping to get a mpg player tha I could define the speed of playback. (faster or slower with sound)

thanks,
fg

External DVD player loses focus

I just upgraded to 5.0.4 (was using 5.0.2) and now when I launch an imported video with germsage, the screensaver holds the focus (doesnt switch to...in my case windvd). the screensaver stays up while windvd starts in the background (I can hear the audio). Any ideas? anybody?!?

I am running germsage with sage 5.02 and working fine. Does it work with the latest version of sage? Just wondering if I should upgrade or not...

I would really hope that someone is able to implement the .my file feature into an stvi.
I installed the latest beta and germsage does work with limited functionality. But I have thousands of .my files and would like to keep the details of all my import files. The latest beta with Gersage 1.6 does read the details of the my files so could I just copy the code and put it somewhere in the beta stv?
Can somebody here help me with this?

Pat,
Here is the line I am using to start TheaterTek.

"C:\Program Files\TheaterTek\TheaterTek DVD 2.0\TheaterTek DVD.exe" /NOSPLASH %1

Basically it contains 3 parts:

- the path to your TheaterTek files

- /NOSPLASH tells it not to display all the advertisement from TheaterTek (although it does still show their logo)

- %1 tells it the information passed over from Sage (the path to your movie)

This is in your dvd_player.cmd file that resides in your SageMCE directory

Note I am loading only the movie and not any trailers before the movie.

FYI:
I am also using the SageMC interface now which already has support for external players built-in.
-JD

Is this available for download anywhere? Does it work with SageTV 6.4? If not, is there any viable alternative for launching Zoom Player to play media files without using SageMC? I briefly tried External Apps for the Default STV, but it seemed quirky in my client/server setup. It was looking for the "Externals" directory on the server. Also, I didn't have the option to run an external app for "Browsed Media Files." I'm specifically trying to get Zoom Player to launch when I play a file from "Browse Media Files."

Thanks.
