SageTV4 not using Fusion5 bda drivers?
SageTV 4 doesnt even list a Dvico Fusion driver option under the detailed setup area. Currently running a Fusion5hdtv gold card with a Nvidia 6600gt 128mb video and dvi out to tv.
I am getting a very small choppyines to live tv right now and not sure whats causing it. It is especially bad on fast motion scenes. This is when watching hd shows. I just want to make sure I am running this to its peak potential while trying to make up my mind if I want to purchase Sage or not. If anyone has any ideas please help. Thanks |

beyond2k, I am making the same evaluation. I also have a Fusion5 Gold card with nvidia 6600 128mb video card. Fusion5 Gold works well with Divico's standard software, but I'm having issue running it on SageTV 4. During setup I am able to see the Fusion Tunner device. When I attempt to configure it I get a SageTV error. The error indicates that it had a problem with the capture device and that SageTV needs to be reinstalled. I did reinstall, but with no success. Did you experience this issue? What version of Fushion 5 drivers are you using?

I had no problem installing at all, in fact SageTV 4 is the smoothest running app I have found to work with the card. I am using the 3.11 drivers. I am only using Sage for hd content off a antenna and its working fine except for a slight choppiness every now and again. That is what bothers me right now. I dont know if its something to do with the hd signal, or drivers. But it did find my capture device just fine. I also notice there is a very long delay in aquiring a channel signal and when changing chans.

Thanks for the update....
From all of the posts I have read it does appear that SageTV is working well with Fusion (in most cases). Note exactly sure what my problem is? Are you running on XP or MCE2005? I am using 2005 and wonder if something is conflicting? |

I am running XP Pro. I found no reason at all to run MCE.

cryptoboy,
make sure you have the newest version (3.11) of the fusion software installed. I was tinkering with different fusion software versions and noticed some of the earlier ones don't work with sage for some reason.

I do. 3.11. I would like an answer to this if it can be provided.

Ok, I just remembered a few things...
Cryptoboy, try this: - Uninstall the Fusion software via Control Panel>Add/remove programs - Then run the fusion software 3.11 setup. Select uninstall drivers. - Finally install the software/drivers for your card. Let the hardware wizard thingy add everything properly. Then reboot. beyond2k, I'm not sure I understand your problem. Sage isn't showing your Fusion card as a tuner that you can setup? Or is it setup correctly and you have slight stutters during playback?

It is setup correctly and works fine, but...when watching hd channels there is a slight stutter every so often or when there is real fast motion. I also wonder why it doesnt show any Dvico drivers or Dvico Fusion options in the setup. Right now its using the Sage decoders but doesnt give me an option for the Fusion ones. That bothers me.

Can you try different decoders? Nvidia or cyberlink? The Sage ones aren't the best.

Beyond2k -
I dont' believe you can use dvico's codecs in sage. They aren't like "standard" codecs that you can run in any software. I believe they are highly proprietary to their software. You will need to get other codecs. I use the cyberlink codec for video and I think direct3d for my sound with my Fusion5 Lite and have no issues what so ever. If you are using the Sage Codecs you might as well forget HDTV. While they are decent enough for SDTV, you will never be happy with HDTV. Cypto - Just checking again from my earlier post in a different forum...is it the SDTV part of the fusion card you are having problems with? or HDTV? Like I said in another post, I don't think the SDTV hardware encoder is working with Sage right now

My plan now is to start fresh (again!) with a fresh OS install, disable all Media Center processes and then reinstall all drivers/apps. If you see any possible pitfalls please let me know...? Last edited by cryptoboy; 11-05-2005 at 10:00 AM. |

It sucks that you have to do a reinstall. Let us know how it goes.
