Control Sage with PDA, Netremote over WLAN ???

Hi,
it is possible that i can control sage 4 over my WLAN PDA ?
I have install the software netremote on my pda. Now my dream is, to controll sage with my PDA. At best over WLAN.

Can someone tell me that is possible ? AND how it possible ?

CQC [www.charmedquark.com] can do this, but if this is all you want to do, that's overkill.

HOwever, if the PDA control is but the first step in a more complete home theater automation project, I'd take a look at that. Once you go there, Girder/Netremote won't compare.

I messed with Housebot a while back, but I became frustrated with the lack of development progress, since Meedio Inc's playing catch-up with SageTV on the TV front.

It looked like it had potential, but it hasn't been updated since Meedio acquired it nearly a year ago.

Netremote and Girder can control SageTV.

However, it is not a perfect system, although the problems are more hardware related: WLAN sucks big time. My Dell Axim X50v will occasionally fail to find the network when first started. It requires disabling then re-enabling wireless. 2.4Ghz cordless phones wreak havoc on wireless.

And occasionally, Netremote fails to communicate with Girder.

Other than that, it is flawless

Hello,
thanks for your postīs.

At the moment i have in my livingroom the sage "server" and a client in my bedroom. The perfect solution what i want is to control both systems over my pda by WLAN. When i stay in my livingroom i can control the server, and i the bedroom the client.

It is possible ?

I have install netremote on my server and the pda. After the installation i can controll my windows media player perfekt over my pda with WLAN. it works great. But now i want controll sage and all the futures. Look TV, Play DVD, look in the TV Guide etc....

But how it works ?

I have install netremote, the Media Bridge from netremote and start girder 4.
Ok, and now ?

I donīt know how i become a good skin on my PDA and how it works that i press a button in the skin on my pda and sage change a channel ect....

Greetings,
visionsurfer

Hi,

I have been using girder 3 and now girder 4 to control sage for a long time now.

Depending on what you want, you can actually have a very comprohesive setup and now with studio available to the masses this should get better. I have just started tring to make my first stvi.

At the moment, I have NetRemote and G4 setup to allow normal control, as per any IR remote, plus, I have it setup to give play / pause feedback, disk space readout, playing and recording shows.

What you need to do this, is. First Nielm's status plugin, install it and set it up as per his instructions.

Then I have attached a ccf, three gml, and a small lua plugin for g4.

The GML's are what I use to control sage and other software, so you need to disect it as you please.

In Girder you need to have the treescript plugin enabled, the lua win functions plugin, com server plugin, generic IP (old version - I have put in zip), send message.

Extract the following zip to your Girder folder, maintain the directory structure.

Once you have done above, restart Girder, goto settings plugins > automation setting SageTV and edit you details. You will probably need to restart Girder after you edit.

I think I have included all you need to do this. If you have problems get back.

You may need a couple more NetRemote lua files I have written I can't remember. But what I have included should get you started.
Attached Files
File Type: zip 240 x 320.zip (361.6 KB, 220 views)
File Type: zip girder.zip (79.0 KB, 218 views)

Forgot to say in the ccf you need to look at both the home page and the "PVR" page

Hi,
so i try, but i have a problem direct at the beginning.

I download the files and upack the file im my girder folder. Than i start girder and load all the three GLM files. Now Girder are totaly slow. When i want in the setup menu from girder i can wait up to 5 minutes.

Also i have deinstall my girder, reboot my system and download the newest version of girder from the website (i think it was girder 4 beta 13). I install the newest version and reboot the system. Now i start girder, load the three gmls and the same problem. Very slow. O.K. i restart the system and start girder whitout the three glms and want directly go to the setup of girder. It was very slow too. I dont know where is the problem. Yesterday girder works perfekt.

Maybe can give it a problem when i have install sage not in the normal sage folder ? I have it install on C:\programme\sage\ !

Greetings

Hi Maik,

Did you try disabling the girder weather? That could be were your hang up is... Possibly! ;-)

Which version were you on before?

If removing the weather does not help. Remove my lua files see if they are the hangup.

Hi,
so i test it, but girder is very slow. I disable the weather, but to do that, it takes a long time. Directy when i start girder it hang totaly. With or without weather. I install a completly fresh version of girder. Itīs be slow from the first moment. I install nothing from you.

Maybe i must deinstall girder again, clean the regedit and install again ?

Can i use also the girder 3 Version ?

Greetings.

I would remove the weather.lua file completely. The other thing is that once girder is started it should be ok.

Did you post about in on the promixis forum... They would like to know.

Unfortunately you can't use Girder 3 with my stuff.

Sorry

Yeah, it is too bad they have been slacking on the HouseBot side of things. The main reason I went with it was because it offered control capabilities and remotes in one package.
