That is still too ambiguous to know what is happening. What are you doing in SageTV when this happens? What version are you running? Is there any sort of error report/log file in the SageTV directory?

If there is no error report created, try contacting tech support to see if they can help determine what is causing the crash.

It happens to me in every version but right now I'm using 3.0.14...
I don't know why is it happening... maybe something about memory because the computer starts to make louder noise and then it happens.
It only happens when I watch live tv, and it doesn't happen when sage is minimized.
There is no error report in the directory so maybe I will contact the tech support...

I appreciate your help,
orky7

Please upgrade to Version 4.0 as we are no longer providing support on the Beta Versions. Then let us know the status.

Define "louder noise". Is it a disk access kind of noise, or the system/cpu fan speeding up? If it's the system/cpu fan then it is most likely a heat issue with the CPU, ram or video.(are you overclocking?)

i would second what wayne is saying...especially since it seems to happen when you are watching 'live' tv--when the computer is recording and outputting video at the same time= most strain on your system = overheating. could you provide some specs of your system as that may help.

I have 3.0gh, 512 RAM, windows xp pro, pvr-150.
Is it related to my disk space? because I'm a little short on space right now...

I think the noise is from the CPU... What is overclocking?

It could possibly be disk space I suppose. Try changing the default record quality way up or down and see if that has an impact on how long it runs before it errors out. You might also want to check in Sage setup to see how you have Sage configured as far as how much disk space to use for your media drive(s).

Sure sounds more heat related to me though.

Overclocking is taking a say a 2.4ghz cpu and going into the system BIOS and "overclocking" it so that it runs at say 3ghz. Many video chips can also be overclocked.
Being able to do that depends on a lot of things, like how stable that particular cpu chip is, how good your cooling is, etc.

Since you're already having reliability troubles then overclocking is something you don't want.

I just did a little test and I've discovered that the problem is not with the CPU.
What else can it possibly be??
It's driving me crazy!

Go into Setup->System Information. Then hit 'Info' (Ctrl+I). That'll create a file called SystemInfo.txt in your SageTV folder. Post that file here.

You're still running the beta 3.0.14. You need to upgrade to the release, version 4. I would uninstall both Sage (backup your wiz.bin) and java and delete their directories. Then install Sage. Sage will also install java for you too. Configure from the beginning and test.

Did you upgrade to V4?

I noticed that you only have 5.86 GB of free video space and at the Great recording quality, you will run through that in a little over two hours.

You might be running into space limitations if you have your recordings marked as manual (don't delete). Sage will not record a favorite if there is no space to do so, but I don't know what it will do if you try to watch Live TV with no space to capture the recording.
