Of course nVidia is the perfect example, they beta'd the 3.x version of their decoders for a few months, and then finally released them as V4.x (with some improvements).

hah. Im thinking more of Microsoft with Word. didn't it jump in windows from version 2 to 6? or Netscape completely skipping 5 for 6.

So does this mean that if we bought in at version 2.1 we will have to pay for the upgrade once it is finally released?

No, you don't have to pay to upgrade, from any existing version.
v4 _is_ released. Get it here: http://sagetv.com/download.html |

I had decided to leave what I had setup alone and had given up on a new release. I guess when you do that, that is when they finally put it out. Well I am looking forward to checking that out, and I am glad to see studio released as well. Even more impressive is the HD capability. I have a number of people impressed by my setup but wanted HD. Now I can tell them they can have HD and sage. Very very cool. I will be looking to see how everyone's install goes and if no one has had major issues with SiS a PVR-500 and a xCard I will be all over that....
