Picture Quality on HD LCD

A couple of weeks ago I took the plunge into High Definiton and purchased a 32" Sharp LCD. My setup with Sage to my former SD TV was with the MVP but now the picture quality is not quite as good as compared to my PC client with an 17" LCD monitor. I am pretty satisfied with the recordings output on the computer monitor and not so satisfied with the LCD TV. Can I get a comparable picture on the HD TV if I went with a new Client PC and a qualiity video card with a DVI connection?

I'd venture that if you think the PQ is better on your monitor (via DVI/VGA) than on your TV (via S-Video) then yes, you'll get an improved picture by going the PC route. The PC will probably do a better job deinterlacing and scaling than your TV, especially if you go with a Geforce 6 series and nVidia's decoders.

Do you think the 6200 series is up to the task? I wouldn't use the machine for much else besides TV playback.

Why not try hooking up the new hdtv to the current sagetv pc first to see how the PQ is? This should at least give you somewhat of an idea of what to expect by adding a new client pc.

If possible I'd go with a 6600, the 6200 doesn't support film detection, while the 6600 supports everything ("PureVideo" wise).

As far as TV playback is concerned, would the 6600 be comparable to a 6800 or even 7800?

Should be. It seems they all use the same deinterlacing.
