Think it was asked earlier....thought I'd ask again. Any chance of getting the info/pic to be saved? I believe SageMC has an option to save IMDB info. Thanks if that can be done.

You will see this with the default SageTV3.XML STV... its nothing to do with my import...

First, let me say this is a wonderful plugin and I absolutely love it. With that, I'm confused as to why it does not see all the movies that the imdb.com does see. For example, I noticed the movie Misunderstood with Henry Thomas does not come up if I search by title or all fields. Also, if I search by actor it does not come up that way either. But, at imdb.com it comes up no problems. I'm thinking that since this movie does not come up, there are probably others as well.

Any thoughts/ideas?

yes I know -- IMDB changed their search results page, and I have not yet got around to updating the code to handle the new format (I hate website parsing!)

Nielm,

I love being able to search IMDB by title and have the summary and cast returned for a movie. Is it possible to also grab the movie length from IMDB? It seems like this is all that is missing from the results. Or maybe it's too complicated with theatrical vs. dvd runtimes, etc.

I searched "Harrison Ford" to compare results. There are no entries under "Filmography" (i.e. "as Actor", etc. as seen in the screen shots) nor does his picture show up. The picture didn't show up on the Title screen either. As for IMDB changing their format, is this the source of the problem?

Everything else worked just great! I just imported this plug-in today and think it's sweet.

Cast no longer is listed in the plugin. Did the IMDB site change something that broke the plugin or is it something local to my Sage?

IMDB has been changing stuff on their end and the certain parts of the plugin aren't compatible. And yes, Cast is broken on mine as well.

Neil has mentioned in the past that it will take an update of the plugin.

Here is a JAR file that fixes some (all that I'm aware) of the issues
with IMDB. Myself and a couple people have tested and it looks ok. I would make a backup of your old jar file and copy this one in it's place.

I've had this for a while and I was going to wait until I released my next version of one of my plugins... but I've gotten side tracked with other things... So I figured that I'd just give it to you guys as is..

I will eventually check the code in so Nielm can make an offical release at some point. This will probably happen when I release my next version of my plugin which will use some of the routines in this jar. Since I was adding routines to this, I figured I'd see if I could fix the parsing..

On my end there still seems to be a problem.

As strange as this sounds, TV shows still don't show anything under CAST, but movies do.

I tried 35 different TV shows and none of them had anything listed under "Cast." But every single move had the entire cast.

Also, (and this happened under neilm's too) "Law & Order" comes back with 0 results. Does the search logic need to be a little more "fuzzy?"

Try "law and order" or "law order" I don't know how Neilm sends non a-z 0-9 characters to the search engine... but my guess is he doesn't check for them and may parse them out.... Or it may get treated in the regular expression fashion??

As for the cast... I was able to duplicate it.. When I was testing I didn't check for TV shows... I'll see if I can fix that too.. I just don't know when...

I don't think I'm going to look into the "&" thing... it's just as easy to type "and"

Thanks for the info.... I'm not typing anything.... the Law & Order not coming up is happening when I press IMDB SEARCH after installing neil's plugin.

Damn! Damn! Damn!!!!

I've got so many other things to do... Why do I talk myself into looking into these things when I have so many other things to do! (Like enter a year+ worth stuff into quicken!)

I promised myself I wouldn't do any sage stuff until I was all caught up with my other stuff!!! So much for that!

But anyway....

Here is another JAR file which should fix the TV show stuff.. (and the law & order coming up blank)
I may have broken other stuff since I changed some of the parsing match strings.. but a quick test by me looks ok.. (but I only tried a couple of things..)

Let me know if I broke anything...

fixes for cast / filmography lists (thanks jbuszkie )
handling of TV series and their episode lists (see screenshots below)
filmographies now include a summary of TV episodes, and a separate page for all episode appearances.
TV episodes now link to the series, and series contain lists of all episodes.

and just to clarify, this is both an STV and JAR update -- you need to reimport to take advantage of the changes..

If any devs are using the IMDB search in their own STVs, there have been some changes which make the search backward-incompatible...
