Playing .TS with other apps

Has anyone else had luck playing .ts files through other apps ? I tried zoomplayer and WMP10 both SEEM to play file, but no video or sound.
Using Nvidia Purevideo codec. I know that both these players are SUPPOSED to play TS.

The PowerDVD 6 seems to work well but is not as flexible as zoomplayer. I have set up custom media graphs in Zoomplayer to use the cyberlink filters in order to make use of the superior interface. Also, I have found that the Sage Mpeg Splitter along with AC3Filter and the Nvidia video decoder works well.

I was also able to get PowerDVD 6 to work, but the problem is it's not very good at FF/REW.

The problem is PowerDVD 6 is awful at FF/REW. Get use to commercials again if you going to use PowerDVD 6.

Exactly, which is strange because DVDs can FF much faster. They cripple the software for some reason.

That is exactly the problem with Powerdvd. If you will use Zoomplayer with custom media graphs (Cyberlink Demux, Cyberlink Video Filter, AC3Filter) you will get all of the advantages of Zoomplayer meaning that you can skip to almost any part of the file with a simple mouse click.

I think it also does multi-speed FF/RW and you can set the multipliers you want to use for each step.

I can play the files with Media Player Classic.
I can't get them to play at all using Theatertek.
Both those and Sage are set up to use the Nvidia codecs for both audio & video. Not sure why theatertek doesn't work when the others do.

I was trying with the Nvidia Purevideo in Zoomplayer, I can see that its using the nvidia demux but it doesnt play.. maybe I need a custom media graph, Ive done dvd graphs before but not media.

Just a few minutes ago, I was able to prove FINALLY, that there is indeed a bug in "SageTV flavored" .ts files. Its not anything we're doing wrong. The Nvidia Transport Demux filter and other newer commerical demux filters will not tollerate non-100% ATSC .ts files.

A temporary fix is to install Elecards mpeg2 software which should give a higher merit to the elecard demux filter on your system to allow "sageTV flavored" .ts file playback

EDIT: SageTV's mpeg2 demux filter also works as well obviously

I just got word from SageTV development that this will NOT be fixed in 3.0.x final retail version because of the work involved to fix it. We will see a fix for this in 3.1 I guess...

I can confirm, just a few minutes ago, before reading post above, I decided to try to change my default codec to Sonic and see if WMP 10 would play the .TS files, I forgot I had the files linked to ZP, so imagine my suprise when up popped the most beautiful recorded, HD picture I have yet to see....playing in ZP! I checked the filter properties and saw that It was using the Nvidia decoders, Cyberlink audio and Nvidia Post processing, but the thing that was different from yesterday is that for SOME reason, it was using the Sage Demux??? yesterday it was using Nvidia Demux and not working.
I changed NOTHING on the system other than using DecoderCheck to set Sonic as prefered codec. It appears to be using my dvd graph (but I didnt put a demux in it )
Fast Forward and Rew work just like on a DVD.
Works in WMP too, only not as good a picture, probably because it is using Sonic decoders....but who knows ? this doesnt really make sense to me.

You can fix your problems without any mystery by doing the following:

1) Do a search on Google for "DirectShow Filter Manager 0.5" and download it. Its one executable in a zip file.

2) Run the tool in step #1 and set the merit for "Nvidia Transport Demux" to 0000000. Make sure the settings is saved and exit the tool.

3) Do a search for a free version of Moonlight Cordless's mpeg2 player, download it and install it. This will make your system use the Elecard demux.

Now... all of a sudden your system by default will use elecard's demux filter AND nvidia's video/audio codec (presuming that you still have the nvidia decoders installed).

That should do it...
