new trial period?
Hi,
I mistakenly downloaded the trial version before I had a tv card, hoping to evaluate sagetv for mp3/photo/media use without the tv function. I couldn't get it to do anything without a tv card. Now I have a wintv pvr 250 and wanted to evaluate sagetv, but my trial has expired. Any suggestions? thanks |

Well the next official release should be coming out soon. That version should reset your trial. So for now I suggest patience. It's well worth the wait. Narflex added a bunch of new features and went on a big bug hunting expedition. If he follows his past patterns it should be out any day now(this is just a guess).

official reply via email was no possible way for a new trial period. We'll see about a new release. problem is I don't want to keep the pvr 250 if I don't have a service to use it with, and it had to go back pretty soon if I want my $ back. oh well.
thanks

By service do you mean the EPG? Or another way, do you mean you don't know if your area is covered by the Sage service?
If that is so I would gladly rerun my setup if you give me your zip. I could then tell you which providers are listed and even give you a channel list if you want. If it's a matter of you wanting to fully evaluate SageTV yourself(I can understand that) just go ahead and return the PVR250 while you can still get your money back. You can always repurchase it when the next official release comes out. Either way I'd be glad to help if I can. Best of luck. |

thanks, sorry about the confusion, I'm in an area where I'd have to use xmltv with sage. I meant some tivo like software besides the junk that is standard on the hauppauge when I said "service"
I'm most interested in sagetv as I'd like a windows MCE like piece of software. The Hauppauge card was one of the 99$ after rebate deals, so I'm hoping to keep it as it was a good deal, as a way to test sage's product without buying the 175$ bundle... thanks |

The trial period is going to be reset with version 1.4 when it's released (probably late next week). So if you can wait until then, you'll get another chance to try it out.
