TV Tuner card died, can I watch recorded programs?
My PVR-500 died ... actually it can get a signal from the composite input, but the tuners are shot.
When SageTV comes up, it immediately goes to the setup screen and wants me to select a video capture device from an empty list. Is there any way I can "fool" it and watch the programs I have recorded? At least unril the card is repaired? Thanks. |

Have you tried going to the Main Menu from that screen?
It has been a long time since I tried running w/o a tuner, but I thought you could simply jump to the Main Menu and continue using it w/o a capture device configured. You would have to do that every time you start the program, but once it is done, you should be able to at least play your recordings. - Andy

I tried every button on the remote that I thought would work and got nothing!
BUT... your reply got me to thinking and I tried clicking the mouse on the back-arrow/SAGE-LOGO in the top left corner... SUCCESS! Thanks a bunch for your help! |

Any idea what killed the PVR-500? Lightning strike? Seems odd that both tuners died at the same time. I'd almost think that the signal isn't getting to the tuners, possibly wherever it splits the signal in two to get it to both tuners.
Not that this would be of any help, you're still stuck with a dead PVR-500. Just seems odd that's all.
