30 days continuous uptime!

My installation of SageTV 1.3.8 on my HTPC located in the living room has just surpassed a new milestone (for me at least). It has been running SageTV non-stop for 30 days now. By non-stop I mean that the HTPC has been on 24/7 and the SageTV app has not been closed or terminated in any way for the last 30 days. It has given me absolutely zero problems during this time period.

I use the XMLTV plugin to get channel listings since I am outside of the Sage service area. The XMLTV downloads are completely automated via a script running on my system so that the Sage EPG is automatically updated without requiring any intervention on my part.

Of course, I've been running SageTV for more than thirty days in total (61 days to be exact) however this is the first time I've left the install alone for this long. Usually I reboot my HTPC every week to two weeks, not because of problems, but usually because I'm fiddling with registry settings, installing new software, etc. (sometimes I just can't leave well enough alone).

Anyways, just thought I'd post a success story to show that indeed SageTV can be run with just as little effort and just as problem free as a TiVo.

Cheers
Lester

Lester,

Having your Sage PC connected to the network all the time how did you stop Sage from trying to go out and grab the guide info, since instead you are using XMLTV?

Thanks

I never did anything to specifically stop Sage from doing that. I've never checked to see if there is any network traffic at the time that Sage does the update. However it does definitely read the epgdata.xml file downloaded by XMLTV.

Cheers
