Make sure you are using a good decoder too... The sage decoder's quality is pretty shoddy compared to the nvidia decoder. That'll make all the difference in the world in watching SD on a HD tv.

I'm a newlywed so I need to pick my fights...
you have gained wisdom grasshopper.....

My Dad has been married to my stepmom for a looooong time, and he once gave me some great advice regarding toys. "It is better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission." It took a while before I had the stones to try this one on my wife, but it worked.

As for the tv, spend all you can afford plus a little more. Once you get that 42-50" Pany Plasma home you will not be sorry. I'm also doing my due diligence in anticipation of purchasing an HDTV. We have a good size room so I am going 50". I have pretty much narrowed it down to the 50" commercial Pany Plasma mentioned by Naylia.

Wait till just after xmas: high gasoline and heating fuel costs are going to take a bite out of the holiday shopping season. I betting there will be some smoking deals come Dec. 26.

Have fun,
Jesse

ya, i'm definately leaning toward the commercial 42" pany. here's to hoping prices drop soon too.
begging forgiveness on a huge purchase like this is just asking for trouble--maybe i should start a little slower and work my way up to it though...

for sure.

This is one of those where I would be trying to explain why I spent $500 more than we had budgeted. Trying to slide an entire purchase of this size in would result in the loss of important body parts...
