Using a second sound card for Sage audio?

I have two sound cards installed and functional on my system, and I use Sage on a second (tv) monitor. Does anyone know if there is a way to get Sage to use the secondary audio device? That way when someone is using the computer the sound isn't comming out of the tv while someone else is using Sage? I contacted tech support and there was nothing they could do, so I thought I would try the forum to see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

Try going to Detailed Setup -> Audio, then setting the renderer to use the other sound card. (I don't have 2 sound cards, so I'm just guessing.)

I tried this, but the sound card doesn't appear as a selection. It seems that the Detailed Setup -> Audio is just for MPEG decoding. Is there a way to add my other sound card to this list?

BTW, I'm very impressed with your response time.

Well, I warned you I was just guessing. I'm not that familiar w/multiple sound card issues, so maybe someone else knows more...

There are some great people here, so there are often responses fairly quickly. As for me, I just happened to be passing by at the right time... not that I was of any help, though!

You were right!!! There is an option in the audio renderer to select the output device. I just upgraded to the beta version and found the option. I was probably overlooking it previously. Thanks for your help!

I have my system setup just like you. I was able to select my second audio card under Audio Renderer. I'm using Windows XP. In the Sound and Audio Devices Control panel, on the Audio Tab, under the default device Setting, I have three choices, my two audio cards and my modem. These three choices all appear in SageTV's Audio Renderer settings.

Edit: looks like I took to long coming up with an answer, since you already figured it out.

Thumbs up

This is a really cool feature! Glad I was surfin around today and spotted your thread. Sounds like we can now use the same Windows XP Server to output music to one room (e.g., via Windows Media Player) and watch TV in another using Sage and the secondary soundcard??! I love it
