| Dual Fusion 5 Lite Nightmare finally over! :-D

After months of struggling with updating drivers, software, swapping hardware in and out I finally replaced them with 2 Avermedia A180's. All weird problems disapeared. WHQL compatibility tested Intel Dell PC 100% WHQL compatibility tested perpherials and respective drivers Windows XP PRO + SP2 + all patches and updates Fusion 5 Lite - Blue screen crashes when both cards are active and tv reception is low. - Unexplained stuttering/pixelating on HD channels that have solid signal strength - PC slugish and CPU usage too high when recording HD. -Uncessarily complex drivers (10 drivers for 2 PCI cards!!). Avermedia A180 - Installation was a piece of cake. 1 tiny driver install. 2 drivers listed in Device manager instead of 10. - No unecessary extra software installed - No more stuttering, weird pauses, pixelating when watching HDTV in SageTV. - PC runs significantly faster when all capture cards recording at the same time in SageTV... less CPU usage. Basically, all the weird unexplained issues that I had in SageTV magically disapeared.

Hey, glad to hear of your success with the Avermedia. I, too, have struggled mightily with a Fusion 5 in 3.0.11. I *basically* have it working, but I've got some channel mapping issues that I can't overcome. (HD subchannel incorrectly mapped to SD subchannel, causing huge EPG problems). Just wondering if you think there's any chance the channel mapping might work properly with a switch to the A180. The reason I ask is that I have a MyHD which maps everything just fine, so is this issue likely to be card/driver specific? If the channels would map correctly with the avermedia, I'd switch in a heartbeat. cheers, Dave |

Dave, can you give me a specific example for channel remapping? I can try to see if it does it for me.

Hey, thanks for the offer to help, but I don't know that I could give you anything that you could implement, as stations in various markets do their own thing with ATSC subchannels. As I recently posted in the beta forum, 2/4 of my networks have 3 correctly mapped subchannels and the other 2 are incorrectly mapped. As far as remapping, well, all that I can observe is that it changes the station label, but the EPG data associated with whatever sub-channel stays the same. (i.e, for my incorrectly mapped stations, I _tune_ HD content, when EPG states that it is weather.) I've seen bunch of posts about this issue, so it's definitely a problem. Again, though, I'm not clear if it's Sage or card-specific. I did order an A180 just for fun anyway. I mean, everyone needs 3 HD tuners, right? cheers, Dave |
