Why is PQ of Sage recorded shows so much better through JRMC?

Why is PQ of Sage recorded shows so much better through JRMC?

I've noticed that shows recorded through SageTV but played back via JRMC look much cleaner than natively through SageTV.

I presume this is due to the video decoder that I'm using, but I've tried all available and nothing seems to get it that clean.

Any suggestions? I'll ask over on the JRMC forum how to determine which decoder it's using.
