audio delay settings

I recently purchased a set of Bluetooth headphones (finally a wireless set of heaphones with no 900 mhz hissing and popping). I have run into one small problem using them with sage. The problem is that due to the encoding / transmission via Bluetooth the sound is delayed just enough to be annoying. I have tried to set the audio delay to a negative value (I want to get the audio ahead of the video, so that when using the headphones it is in sync with the picture) but when I do that the all I get is a black screen with no video or sound. I am guessing that setting negative values is not allowed by design, but I could not find anything regarding the values allowed in the manual. Does anyone know if this should work (currently using default audio decoder) or have any other ideas how to accomplish what I am seeking to do?
