Recurring recording based on time/channel?

Is there any way to setup a recurring recording schedule based on time and channel and not on show information? I need to record 3 shows that are back to back on the same channel and I continuously run into issue with it starting a bit late or ending a bit early and then having things overlap in the middle etc.

I'd like to set up something that I can say Every day (M-F) from 2:55 - 5:05 to record a certain channel. I know I can do this manually but I'd have to create recordings for every day, one at a time, forever.

Is there any way to do this anyone knows of?

Also what happens if I want to set the lead-in time for shows and then those shows are back to back? If I could set the first show to start 5 minutes early and the last show to go 5 minutes late, that woudl work. Only problem is the first and second show are the same show (different episodes) so if I set ti to start early, what happens during the 5 minutes at the end where the first show wants to finish recording but the second show wants to start early?

Thanks.

If you want everything in a single file & you want it to recur, you could use Timed Recordings (Schedule Recordings -> Create Timed Recording). It is in the PDF manual, but once you set the channel & start/end times, you can specify when it is to recur. The downside is that there will be no show info associated with that recording.

You could also set up favorites w/padding, then set the property (v2: remove_padding_on_back_to_back_favorites=true) or setting (v3: Detailed Setup -> Customize) to tell SageTV to remove padding on back to back favs on the same channel. I think there will be a very slight missed blurb as the recording changes from one file to the next. There might be a bit of one show in another show's recording, but if you are careful, you can watch it.

That's one reason a lot of people use multiple tuners -- not always to record so many shows, but to be able to keep padding on them all. (Yeah... I know you may not want to add another tuner at this time; just mentioning it.)

Oh -- I think I just answered this one above, about removing back to back padding.

AH, I didn't know there was the way to remove the padding on back to back shows. I'll have to try that setting tonight when I get home.

I'm using 2.2.8 or whatever it is. Do those two properties accomplish exactly the same thing or should I look to upgrade to 3Beta to use the option under Detailed Setup?

Thanks for the info.

Both versions use the same property; it is just that v3 includes an option to set it inside the UI, so you don't have to exit SageTV to change the properties file when you want to change that option.
