Anyone running 2 (dual) ATI HDTV Wonder cards?

One works great for me, with a second one though, I only get a black picture.

Ugh, after I rebooted, my system wont boot up in normal mode, it resets right before getting to the desktop.

I hope Dual ATI HDTV Wonders are possible, and not like the Aver 180's where its simply not supported.

Infact, alot of times my system reboots when trying to load drivers for both of the cards...

Anyone out there running two of these things? I think I'm the only one in the world. I submitted a trouble ticket to ATI, waiting for response.

I have Dual A180's working great in SageTV. What do you mean not supported? This is the first set of cards which support dual tuners officially.

I don't think the HDTV Wonder drivers support multiple cards. AFAIK, the Fusion 5 and A180 are the only ones that support multiple (2) cards.

I have read about this in many of the PVR packages. The only way to get multiple HD tuners working in these programs is to have two different cards, like an HDTV Wonder, and and A180, except in the case where the manufacturer has written the driver to support dual or multiple cards in the same system.

Fluffdaddy,

Are you doing two A180's with native SageTV support (and is it stable?) or are you using the HDE network encoder to do it? (if so, is it stable?)

And it is stable?... I don't see A180's at my local Fry's Electronics, so I will have to online order them... If you say they are stable for you, I'll place my order right now.

AverMedia says you need an analog tuner installed to use their HDTV card w/ MCE2005. Im sure this isn't the case with SageTV, but if you can shed any light on the subject:

Users will need to have an analog TV tuner card (like UltraTV 1500 MCE, AVerTV PVR 150 or AVerMedia M150) preinstalled in the system in order to get AVerTVHD MCE A180 to work properly in Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005

That's because MCE requires and analog tuner to setup/retrieve your guide. It's an MCE software limitation, not a hardware one.

I just placed an order with NewEgg for two A180 OEM cards. Should be here tomorrow. I
'll give them a try then. Hope they work! :-).

With my ATI HDTV Wonder, once a in a while the video would freeze, and I simply had to change the channel to get it back.

Some other times the audio/video would get out of sync (using ATI's decoders for video/audio).

I read about some glitches with the A180, but hopefully it never "Freezes", that drops the WAF factor.

I'm doing two A180's in Sagetv with NVIDIA PureVideo Decoders.

Is it stable ? It's better now then when I was using native SageTV Decoders.

But I'm hoping the problem I do have are due to my underpowed rig. 2 Hauppauge 250 and 2 AverMedia A180, with a ATI 9800pro with only a AMD 2600+ XP cpu and 1.5 gig.ram My only is problem is 1 to 2 second Video glitches evey now or then in most of my HD recording

"1 to 2 second Video glitches"

sounds like something reclock might be able to fix, download the v1.5 beta of reclock and give it a shot. It could be your RTC is bad so the audio/video timing gets worse and worse until it finally "snaps" and resyncs the video. This causes a pause.

Arrow

I got an official response from ATI Technical Support about running 2+ HDTV Wonders in one PC.

The offical response is: "You cannot have more than 1 HDTV Wonder is a system at any point in time."

I then sent them a link to this gif file: http://rm-f.net/~voxel/kbmash.gif

It probably won't be long till they do release a dual tuner driver. Avermedia did it for the update coming out in MCE later this year. I am sure ATI will follow.
