UIRT and frequency

I recieved my USB-UIRT last night and began setting it up. I was unable to get the device to recognize my remote. I realize now that it doesn't have the "extra" reciever for the frequency that my remote uses. Anyway, I want to create a custom .ir file for my DirecTV box. I found the ir hex codes for it, and I'm wondering if anyone thinks this will work. Has anyone manually created .ir files for use with SageTV? Will my USB-UIRT transmit at a frequency that can control my STB?

thanks

Okay, I actually figured it out. I found the IR hex codes on Remote Central and created my own .ir file. I realized that the frequency is indicated in the file (56000) so that was cool. At first I had trouble getting "ok" or "enter" to work, so I used another file that had those options working, and inserted my own hex codes. After an hour of this noodling, I now have a working DVR setup. I must say, however, that the everage consumer will not be manually entering hex codes into a ".ir" file. I'm a programmer, so I'm used to this kind of stuff, but until Frey makes this setup process alot simpler, this type of DVR will be for early adopters only. Its really cool, and my wife loves it, but it was not a simple thing.
