crash and lost recordings

Hi all i'm new to sage, just purchased a pvr-500 and sage 2.2 Last night i was recording 2 shows and watching a prev. recorded show.. with less than 10 mins remaining before the show was over the pc rebooted, so i lost both recordings. I know older versions of sage would not delete the file but just skip and resume. Can i revert to that setting? Also any known reasons for the reboot?

You can check to see if the partial recordings are still on the hard drive. Partials don't get listed as part of SageTV Recordings, but they don't always get deleted immediately.

There would be too many issues that could cause a PC to reboot for me to comment on that. (Unless it is a motherboard/chipset that the 500 is known to have problems with.)

Personally i'm hoping its a memory problem... as far as partial files there arent any.. are there no files to edit to disable (delete on crash)

I've noticed that if the episode isn't airing again soon Sage will keep the partial episode; however, if the episode is re-airing soon it would just delete the recording and reschedule it for later. I'm not sure how far in advance it checks the EPG before it deletes though.

For v2.2, see the bottom of p. 190 in its manual (end of Appendix C) for a property you can change.

For v3, that is an option in Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Delete Live TV Files. (v3 manual: p. 183)

I think that affects partial recordings also.
