Learning remote works with MVP

If anybody's interested, I've had success getting a cheap learning remote to work with my MediaMVP. The remote is a OneForAll 9910, though I imagine other OneForAll devices would work just as well. The device code is under Video Devices, code 1408. That maps most of the keys you'll want, though there are a few that the remote must still learn from the Hauppauge remote.

Cool! Now if I could only replace my iMon pad with a real remote (and not have to use my UIRT) ...

BTW: An update for the Home Theater MX700 shows that it also now has built-in codes for the Hauppauge remotes.

Will that remote allow me to do pass thru volume to the TV volume controls? What about TV power?

It's one of those that have a bunch of different "Mode" buttons at the top, and the buttons can change functionality depending on what mode is active. But you can set it to pass through volume controls to the TV (or any other device), even when it's in Video (MVP) mode. You could also program a key to control TV power when in Video mode, then just leave it in Video mode (or pry out all the other buttons to keep your spouse from accidentally pressing one and then complaining that the remote doesn't work). It'll also do macros -- so I have one button programmed to power on the TV, switch the input on the TV to the MVP, and power on the MVP.

FWIW, the Harmony remotes appear to support the MediaMVP as well.

If you like Harmony remotes (I have a 688 myself), check out the new Harman Kardon TC30 . This is the best yet. They took the layout of the Harmony 520, and combined it with the color LCD and recharging cradle of the Harmony 880, and slapped the Karman Kardon name on it. This is the best I've seen yet. They're supposed to start shipping about the middle of October.

Neat. Nice to see Harmony/Logitech propagating out to other vendors.

Looks like pretty much a color version of this non-color remote from Logitech

I, for one, could never get used to the tiny transport/select keys on my 676... I wonder what the size of the buttons is on the H/K remote?

If you know how program that remote I have the jp1 setup files if you want. It maps over 40 functions for mvp/sage for that remote if you want. Learning eats up its memory quick.

After I setup that remote, I found out the button placements were much better on the little Haugpauge, especially for bedroom use. I found myself looking at the remote all the time. At least I can control the sleep timer on my old sylvania again.

Hey Wakecrash,

You have the JP1 files for the OneForAll? I would be very appreciative if I could get a copy. Thanks much.
