Status of serial control bug?

So close to buying SageTV, even though I already own BTV, except...
I'm one of the unlucky people who can't get serial control working. I've confirmed that everything is OK hardware-wise with DTVcontrol (RCA-D10). Running Beta 3.0.11.
Everything else about Sage seems so nice, I'd hate to ditch it.

Serial Control - Some possible fixes!

OK - thinking back to the days when I supported IT systems in a research lab, I tried a few things and have serial tuning at least part-way functional !

Go into device manager, then into your port settings. Drop the port speed to something low (I tried 1200bps), make sure flow control is set to none, then go into Advanced settings and turn off FIFO buffers (this was the critical setting for some finicky lab data acquisition equipment).

I now have tuning of channels over 200 working - now to track down the low-channel fixes.

HTH!

Correction - I can tune below 200, just no locals. Then again, I almost never watch network TV .

Check to make sure it's set the registry settings for D* control:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirecTVSerialKeys=1
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirecTVIgnoreResponse=1

The DLL in 3.0.11b with the above hives are what helped me out. YMMV. What model STB are you using? I'm using D10-100.

Thanks - I'll give those a shot tonight.
I'm not sure which D10 I'm using - I'll get the exact # tonight. I just got new service within the year, if that narrows it down.
I hadn't run across those registry settings in the forum searches. I did see alot of complaints about serial tuning issues, though. Between what I found and your settings, seems like its worth a sticky from the forum admins.

BTW - does beta 3.0.11 include the updated tuning DLL that you have to request from tech support?

They are identical, so we are to believe I'm still using 3.0.5b with the updated DLL and the reg hives. Gotta add my 6-port serial card so I can hook up my other STBs

I think to get locals you have to use the special dll sage tech support e-mails upon request.

I am occasionally missing channel changes, sometimes only the first or first two digits of the channel numbers are rxd by the D10.

Dagar, did you have to add those lines to the registry? I have 3.0.11, but my registry does not have those lines. Is HKLM and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE the same thing?

yeah, I needed those hives.

rgr on hklm and they are reg_dword type as well

is it in 'frey tech' or in 'sage'? for 3.0.5b it's in 'frey tech'

Bingo! That's fixed it ! Tuning is slightly slower, but 100% reliable so far.
